NYC’s Taxis of Today

Office Work

Sebastian Olson, 38, McGuinness Corp.’s manager and Kodogiannis’ son-in-law works in the warehouse office.

Olson’s not looking forward to the “Taxis of Tomorrow,” which he thinks will be less safe than Ford’s current Crown Victoria model and harder to repair.

A former airplane mechanic, Olson spends much time worrying about his cabs passing the quarterly inspections that the TLC requires. Taxis that fail the checks must be repaired, then inspected again–for a $35 fee–before they can be rented to drivers.

“Do you know how heartbreaking it is when I send guys home because a car’s not working?” Olson said.
