A Stable Job: Driving a Carriage Driving in NYC

Horse and carriage rides have long been part of the landscape in Central Park. Stephen Malone, the president of the Horse and Carriage Association of NY, has been in the industry his whole life.
In April 2010, a bill was passed to outline new regulations for animal safety and to increase driver wages in the carriage horse industry.
For some animal rights activists these new improvements are not enough. They want to see a ban on all carriages in the city and have been aggressively pushing for a new bill, intro 86, to become law.
Is there truth to the activists accusations, and if Intro 86 is passed, what will become of the many drivers who have spent their lives behind the reins?
